Airveda DUCT Monitor
Mitsubishi sought accurate duct air quality monitoring, seamless data analysis, and actionable insights to optimize HVAC performance and maintain superior indoor air quality.

Introduction
Mitsubishi Electric, a global leader in electrical and electronic products, has been driving innovation since 1921. Known for its cutting-edge technologies and excellence, Mitsubishi continues to set industry benchmarks.
For this POC, Mitsubishi collaborated with Airveda to analyze air quality in their treated fresh air system by comparing supply and return air quality with outdoor data. They had set up a fresh air system, which was pulling in fresh air from outdoors and purifying it with filters before supplying air indoors. The indoor air was being cooled by the air conditioning system indoors and the return air was being released outside. They wanted to ensure that CO2 levels as well as PM levels were maintained at a good level indoors

Problem Statement
Mitsubishi Electric faced several challenges in ensuring optimal air quality in their HVAC systems:
- Understanding Airflow Dynamics: Analyzing air quality in supply and return ducts and comparing it with indoor and outdoor data.
- Ensuring Data Reliability: Accurate and seamless data monitoring was critical for deriving actionable insights.
- Installation and Integration: Effective integration of monitoring devices into the existing HVAC infrastructure.
- Trend Analysis: Identifying actionable patterns in air quality data for optimal conditions.

Solution
Airveda provided a comprehensive IAQ solution tailored to Mitsubishi Electric's needs:
- Duct Monitoring: Airveda DUCT Monitors were installed to measure PM2.5, PM10, CO2, temperature, and humidity in supply and return ducts.
- Outdoor Monitoring: An outdoor monitor was deployed for comparative analysis with indoor air quality data.
- Data Analysis and Reporting: Detailed air quality analysis was conducted, with a project report highlighting key observations and actionable recommendations.

Implementation
- Devices were strategically installed in supply and return ducts to provide comprehensive data on air quality dynamics.
- Integration with the existing HVAC system ensured real-time monitoring and automated adjustments based on live data.

Results
- Real-Time Monitoring: Continuous tracking of air quality parameters.
- Seamless Integration: Modbus RS-485 connectivity enabled automatic HVAC adjustments.
- Actionable Insights: Detailed trend analysis and reporting for informed decision-making.

Conclusion
The POC demonstrated significant benefits:
- Healthier Indoor Environment: Consistent monitoring ensured superior air quality by addressing CO2 and particulate matter levels.
- Operational Efficiency: Improved HVAC performance optimized energy use while maintaining ideal conditions.
- Data-Driven Insights: Facilities managers received actionable insights to address potential air quality challenges.
- Enhanced System Understanding: Mitsubishi gained valuable knowledge about air quality dynamics in their ducts.
The collaboration between Mitsubishi Electric and Airveda highlighted the transformative role of data-driven HVAC management. By leveraging advanced monitoring technology and detailed trend analysis, this POC not only addressed existing challenges but also established a scalable framework for maintaining superior air quality across facilities. This initiative underscores the importance of innovative solutions in fostering healthier, more efficient workplaces.
